What We Do

Many are drawn to California's cities for their beautiful weather, abundant job opportunities, and outstanding educational institutions. Yet, beneath this allure lies a profound brokenness that challenges us to look deeper. Our cities encompass marginalized communities, including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), women, LGBTQ+ individuals, low-income families, former inmates, people with disabilities, senior citizens, and many others. Even in the most affluent neighborhoods, tragedy and pain can be found.

Beginning in 2025, our community and educational outreach programs will return to their roots, embodying the spirit of resilience. After navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Global Literacy Outreach has chosen to embrace independence from restrictive government limitations and the complications of delayed internal votes and selective grant guidelines. We recognize the public's frustration and mistrust toward nonprofits, often caused by underqualified staff and leadership. Together, we will rekindle our commitment to serve and uplift the communities we care about.

California's stunning sunsets remind us that, even in beauty, darkness exists. With 37.9 million people in the United States living in poverty, our children urgently need support. Many lack necessities, including the resources essential for education. The housing crisis, rising costs of living, and the effects of the Covid pandemic have placed immense pressure on families. Struggling to afford housing, food, clothing, and medical care, these families often cannot provide school supplies.

Global Literacy Outreach was founded to uplift these families by providing school supplies. We believe quality education can empower children to become inspiring, responsible, and innovative community leaders.
